CAUSE

If the power supply light is off, it usually means that the power supply is disconnected from the electrical outlet. If you've confirmed that the power supply is connected to the electrical outlet, and the light is still off, there might be a problem with the power supply.

THINGS TO TRY

Solution 1: Make sure that the power supply is plugged in

Make sure that the power supply is directly plugged into a working electrical outlet. Problems might occur with the power supply if it is connected through an extension cord or surge protector.

If the power supply light is still off after you connect the power supply directly into an electrical outlet, try the next solution.

Solution 2: Plug the power supply into a different outlet

To check the possibility that the electrical outlet you are using is faulty or that there is a blown fuse, plug the power supply into an electrical outlet that you know is working.

If this does not solve the problem, try the next solution.

Solution 3: Check the power supply cables

If the electrical outlet is working but your Xbox 360 console power supply light is still off, the power cords might be damaged.
  1. Disconnect the power cord from the wall outlet and from the Xbox 360 power supply. Unplug the power supply from the Xbox 360 console.

  2. Examine both cords for damage.
  3. If either cord is damaged, do not use them. Contact Xbox Support to obtain replacement cables.

If your cables are not visibly damaged, try the next solution.

Solution 4: Try another power cord and power supply

If you have a different Xbox 360 power cord and power supply, use them to test the console. If the console turns on when you use a different power cord and power supply, you need to replace the faulty power cord and power supply. If the console does not turn on, the issue may be with the console itself.

If the problem still occurs when you use a different power supply, there might be a problem with your console. Contact Xbox Support at www.xbox.com/support/contact (http://www.xbox.com/support/contact) .

If the problem does not occur when you try a different power supply, you need to order a replacement power supply. See the next solution.

Solution 5: Order a replacement Xbox 360 power supply

If you've tried all the solutions above and your power supply light is still off, you should contact Xbox Support to order a replacement power supply.

To contact Xbox Support, visit the following Web site:
www.xbox.com/support/contact (http://www.xbox.com/support/contact)
Note Use of an unofficial, unauthorized, or third-party power supply might invalidate your warranty.
