This article describes how to connect the Xbox 360 S-Video AV Cable to your Xbox 360 console.
To connect to TV and standard audio
- Turn off your Xbox 360 console.
- Connect the AV connector on the S-video cable to the AV port on your Xbox 360 console.
- Connect the S-video connector on the S-video cable to the S-video input on your TV. Leave the yellow composite video connector unconnected.
- Connect the left and right (white and red) audio connectors on the S-video cable to the audio input on your TV, receiver, or amplified speaker system.
Note
For monaural (mono) TVs that have only one audio jack, connect either the right or left audio connector to the audio jack.
- Turn on your Xbox 360 console.
- In the System section of the Dashboard, select Console Settings.
- In the Console Settings area, select Display.
- In the Display Settings area, select Screen Format. Select the appropriate screen size and resolution for your TV.
To connect to TV and digital audio
If the television has digital audio input, you can connect to digital audio instead of to the standard left and right audio inputs. Digital audio input should produce higher-quality sound. Typically, the system is a receiver or an amplifier.
- Turn off your Xbox 360 console.
- Connect the AV connector on the S-video cable to the AV port on your Xbox 360 console.
- Connect the S-video connector on the S-video cable to the S-video input on your TV. Leave the yellow composite video connector unconnected.
- Connect your digital audio cable to the digital audio input on your receiver or TV and the digital audio output on the console end of the S-Video AV cable connector.
Note The digital audio cable is not included with the Xbox video game system.
- Turn on your console.
- In the System section of the Dashboard, select Console Settings.
- In the Console Settings area, select Display.
- In the Display Settings area, select Screen Format. Select the appropriate screen size and resolution for your TV.
Important
Stationary images in video games can "burn" into some television screens, creating a permanent shadow. See your television’s owner's manual or manufacturer before you play games.
