MORE INFORMATION

How to connect the power supply to your Xbox 360 console

  2. Insert the power connector on one end of the power supply cord into the power socket. When you insert the power connector, you might hear a “click” sound. This sound indicates that you inserted the power connector into the power socket correctly. The power connector should now be firmly connected.
  3. Insert the flat end of the power supply cord into the power supply.
  4. Plug the power cord from the power supply into the wall socket.

Note An orange light should illuminate on the power supply.
    • If the light is not illuminated but the power supply is connected to the wall socket, there may be a problem with the power supply. For more information about what to do if the light is not illuminated, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

    • If the power supply light is orange and the console will not turn on, there may be a problem with the power supply. For more information about what to do if the power supply light is orange, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

How to disconnect the power supply from your Xbox 360 console

  1. Turn off your Xbox 360 console.

Note The cooling fans may continue to run for several seconds to make sure that the console has cooled down completely. Make sure that the fans stop before you go to the next step.
  2. Disconnect the power connector from your Xbox 360 console. On some power connectors, you may have to press and hold two small buttons on either side of the power connector at the same time. Then, pull the power connector straight out the power socket.
  3. After you disconnect the power connector, power is removed from the console and no residual power remains. For example, the built-in clock will lose the time and the date settings.

Note The light on the power supply unit will illuminate orange. The orange light indicates that power is still present in the power supply. The light on the power supply remains illuminated orange until you disconnect the power supply from the wall socket.

How to avoid damaging the power cords and power supply

  • Do not wrap power cords around the power supply.
  • Prevent people from walking on the power cords.
  • Do not pinch or bend the power cords. This is especially important where the power cords connect to the wall socket, the power supply unit, and the console.
  • Do not jerk, knot, sharply bend, or otherwise abuse the power cords.
  • Keep children and pets away from the power cords. Do not let a pet or a child bite or chew the power cords.
  • When you disconnect the power cords, pull the plug, not the cord.
  • Do not let the power supply hang from either power cord.
  • Disconnect the power cord from the wall socket during lightning storms or during long periods of not using the console.
If a power cord or power supply becomes damaged in any way, contact Xbox Customer Support.
