You can "migrate," or move, an Xbox
LIVE account from an original Xbox console to an Xbox 360 console. You cannot just move the memory device from the Xbox console to the Xbox 360 console to migrate your account.
We recommend that you use the Migration Wizard. To do this, visit one of the following Web sites, and then follow the steps to migrate your account:
To upgrade your account by adding functionality that only exists on Xbox 360, follow these steps to migrate an account to an Xbox 360 console.
Note To use this procedure, the Internet connection must be correctly configured on the Xbox 360 console.
| 1. | If you are signed in to a profile, you must sign out before you can continue. In the Xbox Live section of the Xbox Dashboard on the Xbox 360 console, press the X button, and then select Yes, Sign out. |
| 2. | In the Xbox Live section of the Xbox Dashboard on the Xbox 360 console, Select Recover Gamertag from Xbox Live, and then press the A button. |
| 3. | Follow the directions that appear on the screen to complete account migration.
| • | If your Xbox LIVE account has a linked Microsoft Windows Live ID account, you only have to type your Windows Live ID user name and password to continue migration. | | • | Trial accounts cannot be migrated to Xbox 360. | | • | Accounts that have outstanding billing issues cannot be migrated to Xbox 360.
