When you try to save content to an Xbox 360 Memory Unit, the device is not listed

SYMPTOMS

The Xbox 360 Memory Unit is not listed as a storage device in your Xbox 360 console.

CAUSE

This problem may occur for the following reasons:
  • The memory unit is not connected correctly to the memory unit slot on your Xbox 360 console.
  • The memory unit or the memory unit slot is damaged.

THINGS TO TRY

  1. Make sure that the memory unit is fully inserted into the memory unit slot on the front of your console.
  2. Insert the memory unit into the other memory unit slot to make sure that the slot is not the problem.
  3. If you have another memory unit, try to use the other unit to see whether the problem affects the console or the original memory unit.
Notes
  • Memory units that are physically broken, immersed in liquids, or exposed to intense heat may be damaged.
  • A damaged memory unit may not appear in the Xbox Dashboard.
  • A damaged memory unit might damage your Xbox 360 console.
