This problem will cause the time to be 1 hour off from the correct time on the affected systems between March 26, 2006, and April 1, 2006. CAUSEThe Commonwealth Games are scheduled to occur during March 2006 in Melbourne, Australia. Several Australian states have changed the daylight saving time transition end dates to the first Sunday of April 2006. These states include the following:
Daylight saving time for 2006For 2006 only, the official daylight saving time transition dates for the Australian states that are listed in the "Cause" section have been changed from March 27, 2006, to April 2, 2006.Note Clocks are turned 1 hour forward at 2 A.M. on the start day to become Summer Time. Clocks are turned 1 hour backward at 3 A.M. on the end day to become Standard Time. The change to the daylight saving time will affect the transition settings for the following time zone rules:
WORKAROUNDTo work around this problem, users in the affected time zones, except for Coordinated Universal Time (UTC)/Greenwich Meridian Time (GMT)+9:30 (South Australia), may be able to adjust their clocks to be in a time zone that is GMT+11.
You will have to set the time zone in the clock to the Magadan time zone (GMT+11) between March 27, 2006, and April 2, 2006. If you make this adjustment, the correct time will be displayed.
