CAUSE

This might happen in the following situations:
  • The Auto-Off setting is enabled, and the console has been inactive for six hours.
  • The console is too hot.
  • There is a problem with the power supply.

THINGS TO TRY

  1. Start the Xbox 360 console without a disc in the disc tray.
  2. Go to the Settings hub, and then select System.
  3. Select Console Settings, and then select Startup and Shutdown.

      1. Select Auto-Off, and then select Disable.
      2. Go to step 5.
  5. Turn off the console. Wait about 10 minutes.
  6. Turn on the console.

If the problem still occurs, note how long the console was on before it shut down, and then do one of the following:

Original Xbox 360 console
  • If two lights are flashing around the power button, go to solution 2.
  • If the console just turns off and no indicator light is on around the power button, go to solution 3.

Note If you have an Xbox 360 S console, first wait for the red light to stop flashing.
  1. Turn off the console.
  2. Wait at least one hour.
  3. Turn on the console.

Important Make sure your console is in a cool, well-ventilated place. Remove any objects on, under, or right next to the console.

If the problem still occurs, go to solution 4.
