INTRODUCTION

Do you like your Xbox 360 Bonus Media Remote, but maybe it isn't working quite right?

Don't worry. This article provides steps that you can follow to troubleshoot the Xbox 360 Bonus Media Remote.

MORE INFORMATION

To troubleshoot the Xbox 360 Bonus Media Remote, use the method that best describes the problem.

The DVD features do not work

Some DVDs may not support all the Xbox 360 DVD playback features. Therefore, some of the Xbox 360 playback features may not work as expected.

Some of the most common playback features that do not work as expected include the following:
  • Subtitles
  • Multilingual audio tracks
  • Multiple viewing angles
  • Slow-motion play
For more information about the features that are supported by the DVD, see the production documentation for the DVD.

Note In rare instances, certain DVDs may not operate correctly. Typically, this behavior occurs because of variations in the manufacturing process or because of software encoding of the DVD video software.

The buttons do not work

If the buttons on the remote don't work as expected, follow these steps:
  1. Check for interference. Remove any objects that may be blocking the infrared port on the remote or on the console. This includes metallic or metallic-painted faceplates on the console.
  2. Make sure that the infrared port on the faceplate is not damaged. If the faceplate is damaged, please replace it.
  3. This problem may be caused by weak batteries. To replace the batteries, remove the batteries from the remote control, press each button two times, and then replace the batteries.

You experience poor performance

If you experience poor performance when you use the remote control with your Xbox 360 console, follow these steps:
  1. Make sure that you have new batteries in the remote control.
  2. To use the remote, point the remote directly at the infrared port next to memory unit slot A.
  3. Make sure that the infrared port is not blocked or covered.
  4. Move closer to your Xbox console, and test the remote again. The range of the Xbox 360 Bonus Media Remote is about 10 feet.
  5. If the problem occurs during the daytime, close the drapes or blinds, and then test the remote again. Closing the drapes or blinds minimizes any ambient infrared light.
Important Do not take your Xbox 360 console or its accessories to your retailer for repair or service unless an Xbox Customer Support representative instructs you to do this.
