SYMPTOMS

When you try to play an original Xbox game on an Xbox 360 console, you receive the following error message:
Original Xbox games are blocked by Family Settings. You can change your Family Settings in the System area of the Xbox Dashboard.

CAUSE

The Xbox 360 console Family Settings feature may be blocking original Xbox games.

THINGS TO TRY

To resolve this issue, modify Family Settings. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. In the System section of the Xbox Dashboard, select Family Settings, and then press the A button.
  2. Select Xbox LIVE Controls, and then press the A button.
  3. Type the pass code that you set for the console.
  4. Select Original Xbox Games, and then press the A button.
  5. Select Allowed, and then press the A button.
  6. Select Done, and then press the A button.
  7. Select Yes to save the change.
Note By default, original Xbox games are allowed.
