Xbox LIVE has a built-in feedback system to collect complaints about inappropriate online behavior. Complaints are reviewed by the Xbox LIVE team, and appropriate action is taken against the offender if the complaint is valid. This article describes how to file a complaint against another Xbox LIVE player.
If you feel that the another Xbox LIVE player has violated the Xbox LIVE Code of Conduct, you can file a complaint against that player.
Typically, you file a complaint from the
Xbox 360 Guide. However, if the game has a complaint option, you can also file a complaint directly from the game, in between game sessions.
Note The complaint option may not be available in all games. If a specific game does not have the complaint option, you must file a complaint from the Xbox 360 Guide, which can be done during game play.
To file a complaint from the
Xbox 360 Guide, follow these steps:
- Press the Xbox Guide button.
- Select Friends, and move right to the Players tab.
- Select the player.
- Select File Complaint. If you decide not to file a complaint, select Don't File to exit.
- Select one of the following general reasons for filing the complaint:
- Profile: The player’s gamertag, personal picture, or personal information contains inappropriate material.
- Text and Voice Communications: The player used vulgar, hateful, harassing, or threatening language in voice or text communication.
- Video Communications: The player was vulgar, hateful, harassing, or threatening in video communications.
- Tampering: The player tampered with a game, an Xbox console, Xbox LIVE, or the feedback system.
- Select one of the following specific reasons for filing the complaint, based on the general reason that you selected in the previous step.
- Profile and Content:
- Gamertag
- Personal picture
- Personal information
- Player content
- Text and Communications:
- Text message
- Voice mail
- Voice chat
- In-game voice
- Video
- Video Communications:
- Picture message
- Video chat
- Tampering:
- Feedback tampering
- System tampering
- Cheating
- On the Confirm Complaint screen, select File Complaint. (If you decide not to file a complaint, select Don’t File to exit.)
- After you file the complaint or after you exit, the Gamer Profile screen appears.
