Additionally, you configure the FrontPage Server Extensions from Microsoft to send the results to a Simple Message Transfer Protocol (SMTP) server. When you try to submit the form, you receive the following generic error message: FrontPage Error. User: please report details to this site's webmaster. Webmaster: please see the server's application event log for more details. CAUSEThis problem occurs if the SMTP virtual server is incorrectly configured. RESOLUTIONTo resolve this problem, use one of the following methods. Method 1: Configure the SMTP virtual server
Method 2: Open port 25The FrontPage Server Extensions send e-mail messages by establishing a connection to the SMTP server that is specified in the FrontPage Server Extensions settings. If a connection between the Web server and the SMTP server cannot be established, messages cannot be sent. The default port for the SMTP server is port 25. If a firewall or any Internet security software blocks port 25, the FrontPage Server Extensions may not be able to connect to the SMTP server. Therefore, you must open port 25. Additionally, make sure that you can connect to port 25. STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section. MORE INFORMATION
