Review the installation historyTo review the installation history, follow these steps:

- Locate the most recent entry for the specific update.

Method 2: Examine the installation log fileNotes- This method applies only to updates for Windows. Updates for Office do not create this log file.
- You must know the Knowledge Base (KB) article number that corresponds to the update. If you do not know the KB number of the update that you tried to install, you can see the number in the list of updates that are available for installation in Windows Update.
After you have the KB number, click
Start, click
Run, type
%Windir%\KBnnnnnn.log, and then press Enter.
Note In this command,
nnnnnn represents the number of the Knowledge Base article about the update.
If an entry like the following example is present in the log file, the update was installed.
Note In this sample entry, x represents a numeric value.
