On This PageSYMPTOMSOn a Microsoft Windows XP-based computer, you remove a smart card after the logon window appears. After you do this, you are not logged off, or the workstation is not locked. The behavior occurs even if the value of the ScRemoveOption registry entry is set to 2 (Force logoff) or to 1 (Lock workstation).Note You can locate the ScRemoveOption registry entry under the following registry subkey:HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon RESOLUTIONHotfix informationA supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix might receive additional testing.
