Known issues

Known issues that may occur during the installation of the update

If you have edited your holiday file, this update will not replace your holiday file even if the update is successfully installed. Therefore, to obtain the updated holiday file that is provided in update 910619, you must rename your existing holiday file before you install the update.

Known issues that may occur after the update is installed

  • If you renamed your old holiday file before you installed update 910619, the changes that you made to your old holiday file will not be available in the new holiday file. You must modify the new file and add your custom changes to it so that the changes will appear in the new holiday file.
  • If you install update 910619 and still have no holidays past December 2005, the holiday file on your computer was not updated even though the update was successfully installed. To resolve this issue, follow these steps:
    1. Quit Outlook 2002.
    2. Click Start, click Search, and then click All files and folders.
    3. In the All or part of the file name box, type Outlook.hol.
    4. In the Look in box, click Local Hard Drives.
    5. Click Search.
    6. Right-click the Outlook.hol file, click Rename, type Outlook.old, and then press ENTER.
    7. Start Outlook 2002.
    If you made custom changes to your old holiday file, but you did not rename the holiday file before you installed this update, you may be automatically reverted to the new holiday file and lose your custom changes if the following conditions are true:
    • Your old holiday file becomes corrupted.
    • You perform a detect-and-repair operation in Outlook 2002.

To determine whether the update is installed on your computer, try to add holidays to your 2006 calendar. If you can successfully add the 2006 holidays to the calendar, the update is installed.

To add holidays to the calendar in Outlook 2002, use one of the following methods.
Method 1: If you have never imported holiday calendar records
  1. On the Tools menu, click Options.
  2. On the Preferences tab, click Calendar Options.
  3. Click Add Holidays.
  4. In the Add Holidays to Calendar dialog box, click to select the country check box for the holidays that you want to add. Then, click OK.
Method 2: If you have previously imported holiday calendar records for years earlier than 2006
  1. On the Tools menu, click Options.
  2. On the Preferences tab, click Calendar Options.
  3. Click Add Holidays.
  4. In the Add Holidays to Calendar dialog box, click to select the country check box for the holidays that you want to add. Then, click OK.

    Note By default, the last holiday country calendar that you imported will be selected. When you choose to import the calendar, you will receive the following warning that indicates that you have already imported the calendar:
    Holidays for <country> are already installed. Do you want to install them again?
  5. Accept the warning, and the import operation will be successful.

    Note If you import the same holiday calendar more than one time, duplicate holiday records will be created in your calendar.

Removal details

If you install update 910619 and then add holidays to your calendar, the entries in your calendar are not removed when you uninstall the update. However, the version of the Outlook.hol file on your hard disk drive is reverted to the version that you had before you installed the update.
