Symptoms

When you use programs that require the Tablet PC Input Panel component on a Microsoft Windows XP Tablet PC Edition 2005-based computer, the programs may be unreliable. These programs may function erratically or may close unexpectedly.

For example, this problem occurs when you use the Fn+F7 hotkey combination to start the Presentation Director program on Lenovo ThinkPad computers.

Cause

This problem occurs because of a race condition in the Tablet PC Input Panel component (Tiptsf.dll) where the process may reference a previously freed address.
