INTRODUCTION

Your Windows Media Center Remote may not work with your Xbox 360 console. This article will help you resolve this issue.

CAUSE

This issue may occur if your Xbox 360 console is not set to allow both the Xbox 360 remote and the Windows Media Center Remote to control your Xbox 360 console.

THINGS TO TRY

You can configure your Xbox 360 console to use the Windows Media Center Remote. This lets you use the familiar remote features for Windows Media Center to control the Windows Media Center features on your Xbox 360.

To use a Windows Media Center Remote with your Xbox 360, follow these steps:
  1. On the Xbox Guide, locate the Settings section, and then select System Settings.
  2. Select Console Settings.
  3. Select Remote Control.
  4. Select Both Remotes.
  5. Exit to the Xbox Dashboard.

MORE INFORMATION

If your Xbox 360 console is turned off, press Start to turn on your Xbox 360 console and to start Windows Media Center. If you are in the Xbox Dashboard, press Start from any location to jump straight to Windows Media Center.

You cannot program the volume control of the Windows Media Center Remote to control the volume of your Xbox 360. The Xbox 360 is similar to the CD player in that the audio controls are at a fixed volume level and cannot be adjusted.

To easily access the features of Windows Media Center on your Xbox 360 console, we recommend that you use the Xbox 360 Universal Remote. You can control your Xbox 360 experience with an ergonomic design that includes backlit buttons, a universal TV remote, and integrated Windows Media Center controls.
