SUMMARY

This article describes why some games that have the same title are incompatible with one another.

MORE INFORMATION

Some game publishers specifically design games to work exclusively with the original Xbox console or with the Xbox 360 console. Some of these games even have the same title. Because the game publishers design these games for a specific console, the games are incompatible with one another. This means that a user who has an original Xbox game cannot play a System Link game or an Xbox LIVE multiplayer game with another user who has an Xbox 360 version of the same game.

The following list is a sample of games that have the same game title but were designed to work specifically with the original Xbox platform or with the Xbox 360 platform.
Note This is not a comprehensive list of game titles. This is only a small sample.
  • College Hoops 2K6
  • Gun
  • Madden NFL 06
  • NBA 2K6
  • NBA Live 2006
  • Need for Speed Most Wanted
  • NHL 2K6
  • Battlefield 2: Modern Combat
