FIX: You may receive an error message when you try to seek through a streaming content file and the Fast Cache feature is enabled in Windows Media Services 9 Series
SYMPTOMSWhen you use Microsoft Windows Media Player to view a streaming content file, and you try to seek to a point in the content that has not been cached, you may receive the following error message: Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The Player might not support the file type or might not support the codec that was used to compress the file. This problem occurs if the following conditions are true:
Error C00D1199: Cannot play the file If you do not seek to an uncached point in the file, the file plays as expected. If you seek to a point in the file that the Fast Cache feature has already cached, you do not experience an error.CAUSEAlthough Windows Media Services can seek through audio content and video content, Windows Media Services cannot seek through Rich Media content. RESOLUTIONTo resolve this problem, use one of the following methods:
