SYMPTOMS

Consider the following scenario:
  • You have a device that is running Microsoft Windows CE 5.0 and that requires a password.
  • You try to connect the device to a desktop by using Microsoft ActiveSync.
In this scenario, the ActiveSync icon turns green. However, ActiveSync does not display the password dialog box, and the device does not connect to the desktop.

CAUSE

This problem occurs when you previously disconnected the device from the desktop when ActiveSync was displaying the password dialog box. The device-side ActiveSync client still waits to receive the password for the previous connection attempt and does not send the appropriate initialization for the new session.
