SYMPTOMS

Hot or warm docking occurs when you put your running portable computer into a docking station, and then the computer automatically synchronizes with the server. However, in this situation, when you hot or warm dock a Microsoft Windows XP-based portable computer into a docking station, you experience a problem. In this, the extended desktop configuration is not restored to the settings that you selected before you removed the computer from the docking station.

For example, when you remove and then return the computer to the docking station, you may experience one or more of the following symptoms:
  • The Digital Video Interface (DVI) and cathode-ray tube (CRT) display configuration is not restored to the settings that you selected before you removed the computer from the docking station.
  • A different monitor is assigned as the primary monitor.
  • Attached display devices do not correctly display in clone mode.
