INTRODUCTION

This article discusses a change in behavior between Microsoft Office Outlook 2007 and earlier versions of Microsoft Outlook. Outlook 2007 does not generate the "Welcome to Microsoft Office Outlook" e-mail message that is generated in earlier versions of Outlook.

MORE INFORMATION

In earlier versions of Outlook, such as Microsoft Office Outlook 2003 and Microsoft Outlook 2002, you receive a "Welcome to Microsoft Office Outlook" e-mail message in the Inbox the first time that you start Outlook. This welcome e-mail message is built into the earlier versions of Outlook. This message is automatically sent to the Inbox the first time that you start that version of Outlook. This welcome e-mail message is not built into Outlook 2007.

In Outlook 2003, you can configure the registry to generate the welcome e-mail message. However, the registry entry that is used to generate the welcome e-mail message in Outlook 2003 does not apply to Outlook 2007. In Outlook 2007, you cannot configure the registry to generate the welcome e-mail message.
