SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Windows CE 5.0, an application may call the SCardGetStatusChange API function. However, the SCardGetStatusChange function does not report the SCARD_STATE_INUSE status in the dwCurrentState field of the SCARD_READERSTATE structure for the smart card reader. This problem occurs most frequently when the following conditions are true:
  • The application that calls the SCardGetStatusChange function is running on a Microsoft Windows Terminal Server session.
  • The application queries a smart card reader that is attached to a Windows CE-based thin client.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because of a coding error in the Scard module. This coding error causes the reader state flags to be read from the wrong location.
