More information

The three type of licensing that are required for Business Portal are the following:
  • Windows Server 2003 licensing

A Windows Server Client Access License (CAL) is required for each user or device that accesses or uses the server software. The two types of Microsoft Windows Server 2003 licenses are as follows:
    1. Individual CALs
These licenses are purchased for internal employees or for external customers. For more information about how to obtain individual CALs, visit the following Microsoft Web page:

    2. External Connector license
This license is an optional licensing alternative. You acquire an External Connector license for each copy of the Windows Server 2003 software that will be accessed by your external users. • SQL Server 2000, SQL Server 2005, and SQL Server 2008 licensing

A SQL Server Client Access License (CAL) is required for a user to access or use the services and functionality of Microsoft SQL Server. The two types of SQL Server licenses are as follows:
    1. Individual CALs
This license is purchased for each user who accesses a server that is running SQL Server. For more information about how to obtain individual CALs, visit the following Microsoft Web page:

    2. Processor licensing model
A license is required for each physical or virtual processor that is accessed by an operating system environment that is running SQL Server. This licensing model is most appropriate for applications that can be accessed through the Internet and for internal applications that have a high client-to-server ratio. For more information about how to obtain a SQL Server Processor license, visit the following Microsoft Web page:

This license is purchased for any internal employee who accesses Business Portal. An Employee User license is included for each System Manager user that you purchase. However, the license can be used for any named user.
