SYMPTOMS

When you add a telephone number to a contact in Microsoft Office Outlook 2003, the country code is not automatically added. This problem occurs if the country code is the same as the first digits of the telephone number.

CAUSE

This problem occurs only for countries without area codes. When the telephone number starts with the same digits as the country code, the country code will not be added automatically.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, manually enter the country code of problematic numbers.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a bug in Microsoft Office Outlook 2003.
