SUMMARY

The Commonwealth Games were held in Melbourne, Australia during March 2006. Several Australian states changed the date on which daylight saving time changes to standard time. These states are New South Wales, Victoria, Australian Capital Territory, South Australia, and Tasmania. In these states, daylight saving time changed to standard time on the first Sunday of April 2006.

Microsoft created an update for the following products to address the 2006 change in the official daylight saving time transition date:
  • Microsoft Windows 2000
  • Microsoft Windows Server 2003
  • Microsoft Windows XP
Daylight saving time changes to standard time on last Sunday of March, 2007. Therefore, computers that have the KB 912475 update installed will not show the correct 2007 daylight saving time transition date for the affected time zones in Australia. These computers will change from daylight saving time to standard time a week late, on April 1, 2007.

Daylight saving time for 2007

For the year 2006 only, the official daylight saving time transition date for each state in Australia changed to the first Sunday of April. For the year 2007, the official daylight saving time transition date for each state in Australia returns to the standard transition date. This standard transition date is the last Sunday of March.
