Outlook Web Access users cannot view free/busy information after the site folders are rebuilt in Exchange Server 2003

SYMPTOMS

In a Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 organization, Microsoft Outlook Web Access users cannot view their own free/busy information or the free/busy information of other users. However, Microsoft Outlook users can view this information.

This problem occurs when the following conditions are true:
  • The display name of the site in the Exchange Server 2003 organization contains invalid characters. For example, the display name ends with a period (.).
  • The site folders are rebuilt.
  • The version of the Store.exe file is later than 6.0.6521.0.

RESOLUTION

Hotfix information

A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix might receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next software update that contains this hotfix.

Prerequisites

You must install Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 Service Pack 2 (SP2) before you apply the hotfix.

Restart requirement

You do not have to restart the computer after you apply the hotfix.
