Hint 1: How to select a civilization

In Age of Empires III, you can build your empire from the following list of civilizations:
  • Spanish
  • British
  • French
  • Portuguese
  • Dutch
  • Russian
  • German
  • Ottoman
To select a civilization, follow these steps:
  1. On the main menu of the game, click Single Player, and then click Skirmish.
Note The Home Cities options screen appears.
  2. Click Manage Home Cities.
  3. Click Create a new Home City.
  4. Click the flag icon under the Civilization option.
  5. Click the civilization that you want, and then click OK.
  6. Click Create, and then click Play.
Note Remember that for each game type (such as Death Match or Supremacy), you have to create a new home city. If you are trying to play a different game type, you have to create a new home city for each type.

Hint 2: How to select the Revolution game type

After you install Age of Empires: The WarChiefs, the Revolution option is added to Skirmish Games. This new option is an additional feature of the expansion pack. It is not included in the original Age of Empires III game. To access this feature, the following conditions must be met:
  • You must select a European civilization.
  • The Game Type must be set to Supremacy and not to Deathmatch.
  • You must start in Age 4. If you start earlier in the game, you must advance to Age 4 to begin a Revolution.
Please refer to the Age of Empires III: The WarChiefs game manual for more information.
