SYMPTOMS

When you install security update 905749 on a Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2)-based computer, no devices are displayed in Device Manager.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because the Fixccs.exe file generates some garbage keys in the registry.

RESOLUTION

Hotfix information

A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix might receive additional testing.
