Issues that the hotfix package fixes

This hotfix package fixes the following issue that was not previously documented in a Microsoft Knowledge Base article:
  • Consider the following scenario. You upload a .tif file to a document library on a server that is running SharePoint Portal Server 2003. Then, you search for the .tif file. In this scenario, the .tif file is not returned in the search results. Additionally, you experience the following symptoms:
    • The Microsoft SharepointPS Search service stops and starts repeatedly.
    • Warning messages that are similar to the following messages are logged in the Application log:

      Event Type: Warning
      Event Source: MsiInstaller
      Event Category: None
      Event ID: 1001
      Date: Date
      Time: Time
      User: UserName
      Computer: ComputerName
      Description: Detection of product '{ProductID}', feature 'SPSMatrix' failed during request for component '{ProductID}'
