This article describes how to start Groove without opening the Groove Launchbar.

When you troubleshoot Groove errors that occur during startup, you may want to start Groove in the notification area only. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. Open a Command Prompt window.
  2. Locate the Groove program folder. Typically, the Groove program folder is at one of the following locations:
    • In Microsoft Office Groove 2007:
      C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE12
    • In earlier versions of Groove:
      C:\Program Files\Groove Networks\Groove\Bin
  3. To move to this folder, use one of the following methods as appropriate:
    • If you are using Microsoft Windows XP or Microsoft Windows 2000 Server, type the following command, and then press ENTER:
      cd C:\program files\groove networks\groove\bin
    • If you are using an earlier version of Windows, type the following command, and then press ENTER:
      cd C:\progra~1\groove~1\groove\bin
    NoteIf the Groove program folder is not in a standard location, substitute the correct folder path in the command.
  4. Type groove /trayonly, and then press ENTER.
