INTRODUCTION

This article describes how to add and to assign license packages on a managed Groove domain.

MORE INFORMATION

Groove Enterprise Management Server provides an initial default license set that contains no licenses until Groove licenses are added to it. Microsoft Office Groove Server 2007 Manager also provides an empty default license set if you enable legacy license management. You must import Groove licenses into a domain to deploy the licenses to managed users who are running Groove Virtual Office 3.1 or an earlier version of Groove. You can add licenses to a license set from the Licenses page.

If you are running Groove Server 2007 Manager, you must add the license that you want from the Licenses page. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. In Groove Manager, select the domain, click the Reports tab, and then click Domain Properties.
  2. Click to enable Support license management for Groove Virtual Office clients version 3.1 and earlier.
  3. Expand the domain, and then click a license set under Legacy License Management. The Licenses tab displays a list of the licenses that have been added to the license set.
  4. Click Add License.
  5. In the File location window, enter the location of your organization's Groove product package, select a product license file, and then click OK.
If you are running Enterprise Management Server, you must add the license that you want from the Licenses page. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. On a Groove Enterprise Management Server, open the domain, and then click a license set under License Sets in the Navigation Pane. The Licenses page appears. This page includes a list of the licenses that have been added to the license set.
  2. Click Add License.
  3. In the File location window, enter the location of your organization's Groove product packages, select a product license file, and then click OK.
In Enterprise Management Server 2.5, you must individually exclude those domain members whom you do not want to inherit a particular license. In Enterprise Management Server 3.0 and later versions of Enterprise Management Server, you can create specific license sets to add licenses only for particular users, groups, or subgroups. For more information about license sets, read the "Adding a License Set to a Domain" topic in the Groove Management Server Domain Administrator's Guide. To find this topic, visit the following Groove Networks Web site:
http://docs.groove.net/admin/ems/ManagementServerDomainAdministratorsGuide.pdf
Note You must have the role of Server Administrator or Domain Administrator to change license sets at the group level. You must have the role of one of the following to change templates for an individual member:
  • Server Administrator
  • Domain Administrator
  • Member Administrator
Additionally, you must have one of the previously mentioned roles to add licenses to license sets.

To make sure that a user has the correct license set, follow these steps:
  1. Click Members.
  2. Find the user, and then click the user account in the right column.
  3. In the Web page that appears, click the License Set arrow to find the user's license set in the drop-down list.
Note If you do not have a managed domain, but you purchased licenses from the Groove Networks Web site, each user must manually add the activation key. To do this, select Activate Product on the Help menu in Groove Virtual Office or Groove Workspace. You will be prompted for the activation key.
