INTRODUCTION

Microsoft SQL Server 2005 is not currently supported for Microsoft BizTalk Server 2004 databases. The BizTalk Server databases must be configured on Microsoft SQL Server 2000 with Service Pack 3a (SP3a) or a later version of SQL Server 2000. Or, the BizTalk Server databases must have remote access to an installation of SQL Server 2000 SP3a or a later version of SQL Server 2000.

MORE INFORMATION

You can use the SQL receive adapter for BizTalk Server 2004 or the SQL send adapter for BizTalk Server 2004 to read or write data to SQL Server 2005 on a remote server.

BizTalk Server 2004 does not support using any new SQL Server 2005 functionality with the SQL adapter, such as the new primitive data types that are included with SQL Server 2005. For example, the adapter does not currently support new XML data types in schema generation.
