On This PageSYMPTOMSWhen an application calls the Mfc42u.dll file to load other
DLL files on a Microsoft Windows Server 2003-based system, you receive the following error message on the console
session: Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library Runtime Error! Program: This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the application's support team for more information. If this error message is not closed on the console session, the affected application stops responding (hangs).CAUSEThis issue occurs because the Mfc42u.dll file unexpectedly
generates a dialog box in
the console session when the Mfc42u.dll file cannot
load a .dll file.
This dialog box contains the error message that is mentioned in the "Symptoms"
section. WORKAROUNDAn administrator can log on to the console session to close
the dialog box that is mentioned in the "Cause" section. RESOLUTIONHotfix informationA supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix might receive additional testing.
