How to try to recover if you accidentally delete a folder that is synchronized by a Groove File Sharing (GFS) workspace

This article describes how to recover if you accidentally delete a folder that is synchronized as a Shared Folder by SharePoint Workspace or in a Groove File Sharing (GFS) workspace.

To recover from this situation, use one of the following methods before you open the workspace from SharePoint Workspace or Groove or before you restart SharePoint Workspace or Groove:

• If you deleted the folder from Windows Explorer and you have taken no additional actions, undo the deletion. To do this, click Undo on the Edit menu.
• Restore the folder and its contents from the Windows recycle bin, and then restart SharePoint Workspace or Groove.
• Contact another member of the Shared Folder or File Sharing workspace. Have that member uninvite you from the workspace, and then reinvite you.

Caution Do not create a new folder that has the same name as the deleted folder but which does not contain the files. When you create a new folder that has the same name as the deleted folder, SharePoint Workspace or Groove recognizes the new folder the next time SharePoint Workspace or Groove starts. SharePoint Workspace or Groove then sends the changes to the other members of the workspace. This process deletes any files that are not present in your new folder from other copies of the workspace.
