The Microsoft Windows Embedded for Point of Service (WEPOS) operating system does not support Microsoft DirectSound functionality. This problem occurs even though you installed Microsoft Windows Media Player 9.0 from the list of optional software components during WEPOS setup.
This problem occurs because DirectSound functionality was not included in the original WEPOS product.
A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that this article describes. Apply it only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem.
To resolve this problem, download and install the WindowsXP-KB916626-x86-ENU.exe package. To obtain this package, visit the following Microsoft Download Center Web site:
