You cannot add bullet or number formatting to handwriting in OneNote 2007

When you use the pen to add handwriting to a page in Microsoft Office OneNote 2007, you cannot apply bullet or number formatting to the handwriting that you just wrote.

This behavior is by design in OneNote 2007. To apply bullet or number formatting to handwriting, you must first select the handwriting and then apply the formatting.

When you are in Pen mode, you cannot apply the formatting immediately after you finish your writing. This is because OneNote needs time to determine whether the ink that you created is handwriting or drawing.

To work around this behavior, follow these steps:

1. Use the pen to add handwriting to a page.
2. On the Tools menu, point to Writing Tools, and then click Lasso Select.
3. Use the Lasso Select tool to select the handwritten text.
4. Click Bullets or click Numbering to add a bullet or a number to the handwritten text.
