This article contains some recommendations for sharing a Microsoft Office OneNote 2007 notebook.
The following are some recommendations for configurations that you can use when you share a OneNote 2007 notebook:
- If you want to share a notebook with other users in your organization, consider using a shared folder as your first option. A shared folder will have the best performance if users are running Microsoft Windows XP or Windows Vista.
- If you want to share a notebook on a Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services site so that the notebook is in the same location as other team documents, you can do this. However, synchronization is slower than when you share the notebook in a shared folder.
- If you want to share a notebook on an Internet site or on an extranet site so that the notebook is available to users outside your organization, use a hosted Windows SharePoint Services site. A hosted Windows SharePoint Services site is available from a service provider.
- We do not recommend that you use a WebDAV server to share a notebook if users are running Windows XP. If you have to use a WebDAV server, users should be running Windows Vista. If you use a WebDAV server, the server must support WebDAV file locking.
Note In some cases, you may unable to share a OneNote 2007 notebook with users who are running Windows XP. For example, if the WebDAV folder contains lots of files, the Windows XP user will be unable to access the WebDAV folder.

- We do not recommend that you share a OneNote 2007 notebook with users in an MSN group or in an MSN space. WebDAV file locking is not supported in an MSN group or in an MSN space.
