Article ID: 917221 - Last Review: January 23, 2007 - Revision: 2.0 A Windows Journal Viewer installation may start when you try to use Groove ChatSYMPTOMSWhen you try to use Groove Chat in Microsoft Office Groove 2007 or in Groove Virtual Office, a Microsoft Windows Journal Viewer
installation may start. CAUSEThis issue occurs because some Microsoft Windows updates do a
shallow installation of the Ink mode framework. The updates do this by registering the Ink mode Component Object
Model (COM) classes so that the classes start the Windows Journal Viewer installer. Therefore, the next
time that you open Chat or open another application that calls these classes, the
Windows Journal Viewer installation starts. MORE INFORMATIONWindows Journal Viewer is a Windows accessory that is used by Groove
Chat to support Ink mode. If the Windows Journal Viewer installation fails, the files
may have been corrupted by system changes since the COM classes were
registered. To resolve this issue, reinstall Windows Journal Viewer manually,
and select repair when you are prompted. If Ink mode is unavailable, and the Windows Journal Viewer does not start, you may not have the accessory available.
