SYMPTOMS

When you use a double-byte character set (DBCS) character in the name of a public folder, the DBCS character may appear as a question mark (?) in event messages. For example, you may notice this behavior in the following event messages when you increase the diagnostic logging level for the Rules category for the MSExchangeIS\Public folder on the Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 computer:
The event ID 1034 message
The event ID 1036 message
The event ID 1038 message
The event ID 1041 message
