INTRODUCTION

This article describes the Windows SharePoint Services 2.0 issue that is fixed in the hotfix package that is dated May 4, 2006.

Issue that the hotfix package fixes

This hotfix package fixes the following issue that was not previously documented in a Microsoft Knowledge Base article:
  • Permissions for the Contributor site group are incorrectly listed as "View, insert, edit items" in the Chinese (Traditional) version of Windows SharePoint Services 2.0

Consider the following scenario. You are running the Chinese (Traditional) version of Windows SharePoint Services 2.0. You configure a list or a document library in a Windows SharePoint Services Web site. However, you notice that the permissions for the Contributor site group are incorrectly listed on certain pages of the Windows SharePoint Services Web site. The permissions for the Contributor site group are incorrectly listed as View, insert, edit items. You expect the permissions for the Contributor site group to be listed as View, insert, edit, delete items. You experience this issue on the following pages for a list or for a document library:
    • Modify Permissions
    • Add Users
    • Change Permissions
Although the permissions are incorrectly listed, members of the Contributor site group can delete items in the list or in the document library. Therefore, the actual permissions work as expected. Only the description of the permissions is incorrect.

This issue occurs because the description of the permissions for the Contributor site group is incorrectly localized.
