SYMPTOMS

When you print a presentation as a handout in Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2007, the header text and the footer text of the presentation may be printed unexpectedly. Or, if you view the presentation in print preview, the header text and the footer text may appear. This behavior may occur even if you did not select the Header check box or the Footer check box on the Notes and Handouts tab of the Header and Footer dialog box.

CAUSE

This behavior may occur if you added the header text and the footer text in the Handout Master view.

WORKAROUND

To work around this behavior, use one of the following methods.

Method 1: Delete the header text and the footer text from the "Header and Footer" dialog box in print preview

  1. Click the Microsoft Office Button, point to the arrow next to Print, and then click Print Preview.
  2. In the Print group, click Options, and then click Header and Footer.
  3. On the Notes and Handouts tab, follow these steps:
    1. Click to select the Header check box. Delete the text in the Header box. Then, click to clear the Header check box.
    2. Click to select the Footer check box. Delete the text in the Footer box. Then, click to clear the Footer check box.
  4. Click Apply to all to close the Header and Footer dialog box.

Method 2: Clear the Header check box and the Footer check box in the Handout Master view

  1. On the View tab, in the Presentation Views group, click Handout Master.
  2. In the Placeholders group, click to clear the Header check box and the Footer check box.
