Issues that the hotfix package fixes

This hotfix package fixes the following issue.
  • 917880 The DocumentChange event may run unexpectedly when you run a VBA macro that changes specific story ranges in a Word 2003 document
This hotfix package fixes the following issues that were not previously documented in a Microsoft Knowledge Base article:
  • Consider the following scenario. You are using a Microsoft Windows XP Professional x64-based computer or a Microsoft Windows Server 2003 x64-based computer. You open a document that contains graphics in Word 2003. In this scenario, the graphics may flicker. This behavior may occur when all the following conditions are true:
    • The computer has 4 gigabytes (GB) of RAM installed and Memory Remapping is enabled in the BIOS.
    • The graphic is contained inside a table and is overlaid by a drawing object or AutoShape.
    • The zoom view is using the Whole page option or the Page width option.
  • If you try to access the Revisions collection for a currently selected range in a Microsoft Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) macro in Word 2003, the Revisions collection may contain a revision that is not in the selected range.
  • Word 2003 may repaginate a document slower than expected if the document is long and contains STYLEREF fields.

Prerequisites

The following list contains prerequisites for the hotfix package:
  • You can install this version of the hotfix on a computer that is running Microsoft Office 2003 with Service Pack 2 (SP2) installed or Microsoft Office 2003 with Service Pack 1 (SP1) installed. However, we have tested this hotfix more extensively on Office 2003 with SP2 than we have on Office 2003 with SP1. If you install this hotfix on a computer that is running Office 2003 with SP1, some file conflicts might occur. We support this configuration, but we do not recommend this configuration.

Restart information

You do not have to restart your computer after you apply this hotfix.

Hotfix replacement information

This hotfix is not replaced by any later hotfix.
