SYMPTOMS

After you install Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1 (SP1) or Microsoft Windows Server 2003 R2, you cannot remotely administer Microsoft COM+ components. Additionally, Active Server Pages and stand-alone clients that use the COMAdmin classes to administer COM+ components on remote computers no longer work. Also, you receive the following error message:
RPC_S_PROTOCOL_ERROR

Service pack information

Hotfix information

A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a bug in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section. This problem was first corrected in Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 2.
