A Microsoft USB keyboard is not detected in BIOS when you start a computer

SYMPTOMS

When you start a computer, the Microsoft USB keyboard is not detected in BIOS. However, you can use the PS/2 keyboard without experiencing problems.
Note This articles applies to any Microsoft keyboard that is connected to a USB port (Bluetooth, wireless, wired, and so on).

CAUSE

This issue occurs when the BIOS of the computer does not enable the USB emulator feature.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, you can enable or disable the USB emulator feature in the BIOS settings of the computer. To do this, make sure that the computer BIOS supports the USB emulator feature.

WORKAROUND

To work around this issue, turn off the computer and then attach a non-USB keyboard.
