SYMPTOMS

When you install Microsoft Student 2006, you receive the following error message:

A file that is required cannot be installed because the cabinetfile D://findste.cab has an invalid digital signature. This may indicate that the cabinet file is corrupt.

This issue may occur if there is a problem with the handling of digital signatures in Microsoft Windows.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, follow these steps:

Click Start, click Run, type Services.msc -s, and then click OK.
Scroll down to Remote Procedure Call (RPC).
1. Verify that the Status is Started.
2. Verify that the Startup Type is Automatic.
For the following commands, click Start, click Run, type the command, and then click OK.
- regsvr32 softpub.dll
- regsvr32 wintrust.dll
- regsvr32 initpki.dll
- regsvr32 dssenh.dll
- regsvr32 rsaenh.dll
- regsvr32 gpkcsp.dll
- regsvr32 slbcsp.dll
- regsvr32 cryptdlg.dll
Restart the computer.
Install Student 2006.
