Hint 1: How to change the AI difficulty level

You can change the Artifical Intelligence (AI) difficulty level in the Scenario Editor. To do this, follow these steps:

  1. On the main screen, click Help and Tools, and then click Scenario Editor.

  2. On the File menu, click Load Scenario.

  3. Select the scenario that you have created.

  4. On the Scenario menu, click Playtest Scenario.

  5. Choose the difficulty level that you want.

Note You must create a scenario before you can select the difficulty level.

Hint 2: How to set up Artificial Intelligence

When you play a custom scenario-based game in Age of Empires III, the enemy AI does not react. This issue may occur if the settings are incorrect in the custom game scenario.

To resolve this issue, follow these steps:

  1. On the main screen, click Help and Tools, and then click Scenario Editor.

  2. On the Scenario menu, click Player Data, and then click AI for the computer player.

  3. Match the AI settings for the computer player to the AI settings in the AiloaderStandard.xs file.

  4. On the Objects menu, click Place object, and then click AI Start in the drop-down list.

  5. Put the AI Start object next to both the computer Town Center and the human Town Center.

  6. Save the custom game scenario.
