This article describes the Active Download feature that is available in the Xbox
LIVE Marketplace.

The Active Download feature provides several benefits:
| • | Each item that you download is downloaded separately in the background, so you can continue to use the console as you download an item. |
| • | You can stream music, or play DVDs or CDs, arcade titles, and games as you download an item from the Marketplace. |
| • | If you start to play an online game, the download is automatically paused while you play the game to help prevent game lag because of network congestion. This helps you receive the best online gaming experience that the network can provide. |
| • | All downloads are associated with your profile. If a download is paused or interrupted, the download resumes the next time that you connect to Xbox LIVE. |
| • | You can add items to the active downloads list at any time by selecting more items from the Marketplace. |
| • | If you are downloading items from the Video Marketplace that are large and take a long time to download, and if you go play offline during the download, you may have to download the item again from the beginning. Unlike other content from the Marketplace, Video Marketplace content will not start the download again from the point at which the download was interrupted. |
| • | A low-power mode keeps the console on in low power while it finishes downloading items. Users can set their consoles to shut off as soon as downloads are complete. During this time, the power light blinks every few seconds to indicate that the system is still finishing items on the Active Downloads list. |
You will receive a notification in the Xbox Guide when a download is completed. You will also receive a notification if the download is interrupted or fails.
