You can purchase items from Xbox LIVE and download them to your Xbox 360 console. While items are downloading, you can continue to listen to music, play games, or watch videos on the console. You will receive a notification in the Xbox Guide when an item has finished downloading or if the download is interrupted or fails.
You can view and manage the list of items you are downloading from Xbox LIVE in the
Active Downloads area of the Xbox Guide.
Some things to know about downloads- If you start to play an online game, the download is automatically paused while you play the game. This helps prevent game lag because of network congestion.
- All downloads are associated with your profile. If a download is paused or interrupted, the download resumes the next time that you connect to Xbox LIVE.
- A low-power mode keeps the console on in low power while it finishes downloading items. The light on the power button blinks every few seconds to indicate that the system is still working. You can set the console to shut off as soon as all of the items in the active downloads list are downloaded.
To view the active downloads list after you start to download an item

- Confirm the purchase, and then select the location where you want to store the item.
- When the Download Details screen appears, select View Active Downloads.

To add more items to your active downloads list
- As you are downloading an item, select Continue or press B on the controller to return to the content list.
- Select another item to download.
- Confirm the purchase, and then select the location where you want to store the item.
Note Items are downloaded in the order in which they appear on the list.
Note On the Xbox console, you can add up to 6 items to the active downloads list. However, on the Xbox LIVE website, you can add up to 30 items. Go to the
Xbox 360 Download Queue
(http://marketplace.xbox.com/en-US/myAccount/CurrentDownloads.aspx)
to view your list.
To move an item to the top of your active downloads list
You can change the item that is currently downloading. Here’s how:
- In the Active list, select the item you want to download now.
- In Download Details, select Download Now.
The current download will pause, and the selected item will start downloading.
Note If you have more than one Xbox LIVE profile on an Xbox console, each profile has an active downloads list. When you sign in, the first item in the active downloads list for that profile downloads first.
To remove an item from the active downloads list
If you do not want an item to download, you can remove the item from the active downloads list.
Note Removing an item from the list does not return the item or cancel the purchase. Microsoft Points are not refunded. A check mark next to any content on the Xbox 360 Download Queue screen indicates that you purchased that item. You can download that content again at any time.
- To cancel and remove an item while it is downloading, from the Download Details screen or from Active Downloads, select Cancel Download.
- To remove all downloads in the active downloads list, press X on the controller.
