FIX: A query may take longer to run in SQL Server 2005 SP1 than it takes to run in the original release version of SQL Server 2005 or in SQL Server 2000
Microsoft distributes Microsoft SQL Server 2005 fixes as one downloadable file. Because the fixes are cumulative, each new release contains all the hotfixes and all the security fixes that were included with the previous SQL Server 2005 fix release.
You try to run a query in Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Service Pack 1 (SP1).
The query contains a subquery.
The subquery contains many column joins.
In this scenario, the query may take longer to run than it takes to run in the original release version of SQL Server 2005 or in SQL Server 2000. For example, you may experience this problem when you run a query that resembles the following:
Select a from t1 where a=0 or a in (select b from t2 inner join t3 on b=c)
To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for SQL Server 2005.
