Error message when you use the N/ODBC driver to connect to the Microsoft Dynamics NAV database in Microsoft Dynamics NAV 4.0: "The combination of user ID and password entered is invalid"

SYMPTOMS

When you use the Navision Open Database Connectivity (N/ODBC) driver to connect to the Microsoft Dynamics NAV database in Microsoft Dynamics NAV 4.0, you receive the following error message:
The combination of user ID and password entered is invalid. Try again.

CAUSE

This problem may occur if the user name that is used to connect to the database contains characters that are specific to Czech. For example, this error occurs if you connect by using a user name that contains a caron (ˇ) or an acute accent (´). For example, this problem occurs with the name Štěpánek.

RESOLUTION

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Only apply it to systems that are experiencing this specific problem.

To resolve this problem immediately, contact Microsoft Business Solutions Technical Support to obtain the hotfix. You can log on to the Microsoft Business Solutions Support site and create a new support request. To do this, visit the following Microsoft Web site:
